Jill Wood, MLIS
Jill Wood is the founding director of Adventure Play at The Parish School and school librarian since 2008. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Texas at Austin. She serves on the advisory board at LiiNK Center for Healthy Play at TCU, and on the International Play Association US school recess committee.
The children of Adventure Play have taught her that play is one of the most powerful and joyful avenues to health and wellbeing, and she speaks Internationally about the importance of holding time and space for it.
Outside of Parish she provides training in playwork, the profession used on adventure playgrounds, as regional consultant for UK-based Pop-Up Adventure Play. Locally, she founded Bayou City Play, a collaborative of artists, librarians, and therapists in 2013 to promote child-directed play through partnerships with schools, libraries, hospitals, and parks in the Houston-metro area.
She is mom to an amazing 10-year-old human (who is really the authority on play in her household), a cat named Francis, and two guinea pigs named Taffy and Oreo.
