DESCRIPTION:Calling all Grandparent Gardeners!\nJoin the Parish Grandparents’ Garden Group. Whether you’re a master gardener or a novice looking to learn\, we’d love to have you! The Parish School’s Grandparents’ Garden Group meets during the school day throughout the year to keep Parish’s many gardens growing. \nIf you are new to our campus\, please have your driver’s license on hand to be checked into our Raptor visitor system. If you are a returning visitor\, we will have your visitor’s badge on hand and ready to go! Once you are cleared to enter\, please head to a picnic table to wait for your grandchild to arrive and/or to receive further instruction. All activities will take place outdoors. \nSchedule\nGardening with Grandchildren:Elementary: 7:50-8:20 a.m. Early Childhood: 11:15-11:45 a.m. \nGrandparents should coordinate with their grandchild’s parent(s) to: \n\nDetermine morning transportation arrangements (for elementary students). If parents are bringing the child to school\, they should continue through the regular carpool line. Our staff will guide the student to their grandparent in the courtyard. If the child is arriving with the grandparent\, please checkin in the front office before meeting in the courtyard.\nAsk the parent to notify your grandchild’s teacher that they will be gardening with you that day.\nDetermine afternoon transportation arrangements (for early childhood students). If the grandchild will be going home with the grandparent\, please have a parent notify their teacher.

DESCRIPTION:The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) of The Parish School provides a platform for relationship building\, support and volunteering. All parents of Parish students are members of PTO. Grandparents and other adult family members are also welcomed to become involved. Meetings are typically held on campus the second Friday of each month at 11 a.m. \nIf you need childcare for your Early Childhood student\, please email advancement@parishchool.org. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) of The Parish School provides a platform for relationship building\, support and volunteering. DESCRIPTION:As part of our ongoing commitment to fulfilling our mission of educating and supporting the parents of our Parish students\, we are excited to announce the launch of our new Parish Parent Education Program (PPEP). This program aims to enhance the accessibility of our adult education sessions by consolidating multiple presentations into a single afternoon on Friday\, April 19\, accompanied by childcare services for Parish students. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a lunch followed by three dynamic one-hour adult education sessions. Each session will feature two separate presentations\, offering attendees a range of topics to choose from. Below\, you will find the additional details\, including with the topics and speakers of the sessions\, and a link to read more about each session and to register. \n  \nAdditional Details\nThis event will be in-person only. Please check-in at the front desk when you arrive \nLunch: noon-12:30 p.m.\, provided by The Parish School \nDeadline to RSVP for this event is Wednesday\, April 17. \n \nSession One\n12:30 -1:20 p.m.\n\n \nPractice Growing Language at Home (And Make it Manageable) \n\nPresented by: Amy Lerman\, MS\, CCC-SLPLanguage happens throughout the day. It’s woven into play\, activities of daily living\, carpool\, and even trips to Target! Amy Lerman\, MA\, CCC-SLP\, and Community Outreach at The Parish School will provide a brief intro to language development. In addition\, Amy will provide practical strategies to encourage language development at home.   \n\n \nSocial Competencies And the Academic Connection \n\nPresented by Renee Attaway-Storer\, MS\,CCC-SLPDiscover why lagging social competencies can be the missing link in understanding your child’s challenges with higher level academics and language.  Renee Attaway-Storer\, a speech language pathologist and social learning specialist\, will explore critical social competencies necessary for success in the classroom while providing strategies for parents as they help their children with homework. \n  \n\n\nSession Two\n1:30 – 2:20 p.m.\n\n \nBeyond Checklists: Empowering Your Child’s Executive Functioning at Home \nPresented by: Stephanie Landis\, MS\, CCC-SLP and Audrey VonBorstel\, MS\, CCC-SLP\nElementary Speech-Language Pathologists Stephanie Landis\, MS\, CCC-SLP\, and Audrey Von Borstel\, MS\, CCC-SLP provide practical strategies that go beyond the basics to implement at home to help support your child’s developing executive functioning skills to make your life smoother and decrease the daily frustration.\n\n \n\nManaging Big Feelings at Home \n\nPresented by Lily Yoder\, MA\, LPC\, RPTParenting would be so much easier if each child came with a personalized manual about how to best parent them and what to do when this happens or that happens.  Unfortunately\, that is not the case and every child is unique and special\, which can make figuring out which parenting technique is the best approach near impossible at times.  Learn more about how Conscious Discipline’s 7 Powers for Self Control and & 7 Basic Discipline Skills can help turn resistance into cooperation\, help manage the children’s fits at home\, help children learn from their mistakes\, and become the parent you want to be. \n\n\n \n \nSession Three\n2:30-3:20 p.m.\n \nThe Language and Literacy Connection \n\nPresented by Jordan Boyce\, M.Ed.\, LDT\, CALTLanguage and literacy are closely linked\, their relationship deeply interwoven. Jordan Boyce\, M.Ed.\, LDT\, CALT\, our Elementary Reading Specialist\, will discuss the stages of language and literacy development and the role that language plays in learning to read and write. She will send you with tools and strategies to use at home that will help build your child’s literacy skills and support their academic growth. \n\n \nAdventurous Play and Loose Parts \n\nPresented by Jill Wood\, MLISChild-directed play is a deeply embedded and essential tool for processing the world\, but finding time and space for tinkering\, exploring\, and discovering can be a challenge to fit in between life’s many responsibilities. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, April 20 from 4-7 p.m. at The Parish School  \nWe will commemorate forty years of Parish by inviting current and former students\, staff\, and their families to celebrate our remarkable growth over the years! Enjoy music\, a food truck\, lawn games\, a photobooth\, Good News Books\, and catching up with former teachers and friends. \nAlong with reuniting up with old friends\, families can also enjoy: \n\nFood Truck (purchase dinner for you and your family\, credit cards only)\nMusic\nYard Games (Jenga\, Cornhole\, etc.)\nLAP and Oak Creek Park will be open (parental supervision required for children)\nPhotobooth\n\nAdditional details: \n\nThere will be a few tables with seating available\, but we recommend bringing a blanket or camping chairs\n\n  \n40th Anniversary T-shirts\nTo celebrate 40 years of Parish\, we are selling a special anniversary t-shirt.  Online sales have been closed\, but there will be a limited amount available to purchase at the Mighty Oak Bash.
