DESCRIPTION:Childhood Apraxia of Speech: Top 10 Tips to Empower Parents\nPresented Virtually by Nancy Kaufman\, MA\, CCC-SLP \nPlease RSVP at the link below. \nParents of children who have apraxia of speech or other significant articulation disorders are invited to hear from apraxia expert\, Nancy Kaufman\, as she presents practical strategies and techniques to increase speech and language skills in children who struggle to effectively communicate with others. Nancy is the owner and director of the Kaufman Children’s Center in West Bloomfield Township\, Michigan which provides therapy and ABA services to children. \nSince 1979\, Nancy has dedicated herself to establishing the Kaufman-Speech to Language Protocol (K-SLP)\, a highly regarded treatment approach to help children with significant articulation delays or childhood apraxia of speech become effective communicators. Nancy speaks internationally on the topic of childhood apraxia speech and is recognized as a leading expert in the diagnosis and treatment of this disorder.  In addition to the K-SLP Nancy has also developed an assessment for childhood apraxia of speech and many innovative therapeutic materials.  She has advised thousands of families and mentored numerous SLPs regarding her therapeutic framework. DESCRIPTION:Summer Camp 101\nPresented by: Maureen Giglio\, Camp Acorn Manager and Mimi Branham\, Director of The Carruth Center \nThe Parish School offers a fabulous summer program\, Camp Acorn\, that runs the month of June. Our summer language program offers classroom-based language therapy for children ages 2-12 who have communication delays and learning differences. Additionally\, we offer Adventure Play at Camp Acorn\, a unique opportunity for children with or without special learning needs to engage in self-directed\, outdoor play and construct their own playground. With sibling day camp\, and early morning and afternoon enrichment options as well\, we have you covered! \n  \nThe Parish School and The Carruth Center offer several summer program options that are open to Parish students and Carruth clients\, as well as the greater community. DESCRIPTION:We recognize that for every family\, their time at The Parish School is just a season and that one day every student will transition. Whether you are considering transitioning in the near future or not\, it is important to understand the options available in the Houston area. In an effort to support you\, we are offering an evening adult education event with attorney\, Hans Graff\, to discuss special education and services available in Public School. \n			\n				REGISTER HERE\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				More about Hans Graff: \nHans P. Graff has over 30 years of experience as an attorney advising and representing clients in federal and state courts\, as well as in federal and state administrative hearings. Hans brings experience from Navy JAG as well as private practice where he concentrated in litigation as well as representation of school districts throughout Texas in special education and litigation. \nIn 1995\, Hans began serving as an Assistant and later Deputy General Counsel for the Houston Independent School District. In that capacity\, he represented the school district in matters involving the U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights\, the Office of Special Education Programs\, the Family Policy Compliance Office and the U.S. Department of Justice. Additionally\, he was responsible for representing Houston ISD in contested matters and hearings before the Texas Education Agency\, the State Office of Administrative Hearings\, the Texas Department of Agriculture\, the State Board for Educator Certification\, the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists\, and the State Board of Nursing. Hans also has years of experience in contested matters and experience reviewing\, revising and negotiating contracts\, MOUs and Interlocal agreements. \nFor more than 20 years\, Hans annually reviewed and revised the HISD Code of Student Conduct and routinely provided advice on student discipline and student issues. He also routinely advised administrators and the HISD Police Department on potential Constitutional matters such as free speech\, search and seizure\, and matters related to child custody\, DFPS conservatorship and family law.
