Counseling services are confidential and free of charge. Student & Family Services helps bridge school, home and community. By promoting collaboration among all involved, we develop innovative solutions to support whole child success. The Parish School employs master’s level mental health professionals to partner with students, parents, and school staff to address the social, emotional and behavioral needs that interfere with academic learning and developmental growth.
Our mental health professionals:
- Provide weekly classroom social emotional lessons focused on emotional self-regulation
- Provide in-classroom support and intervention to students
- Consult and collaborate with school staff, parents, and community providers
- Facilitate development and implementation of The Parish School’s Social Emotional Language & Learning Program
- Provide short-term play therapy and counseling to Parish School students and families, as needed
- Provide referrals for mental health or behavioral health services in the community
When I personally had problems, I could call up Lily Yoder in Student and Family Services. She set up meetings with me to develop coping and teaching strategies for Riggan at home that helped me survive and helped him thrive. Parish is not just a one stop shop to get your kid the skills that they need to get a job or whatever arbitrary things that we have planned for them before they’re grown.
This is a safety net for your entire family – it’s a whole family approach, if you will. The sheer amount of resources that are available for parents, grandparents and siblings is huge.
